Why does this study need my help?
We want to improve end-of-life care for people with dementia and their caregivers. Lessons from this study will be used to make recommendations to change hospice practice and policy.
Will I be paid for being in this study?
You will be paid with a small gift card for the online survey.
People chosen for the interviews will be paid with a larger gift card for each interview (up to three interviews total).
There is no cost to you.
Is this study for me?
You do NOT need experience with hospice to be in this study.
You may be eligible for this study if:
- You were 18 years or older when you cared for someone who passed away.
- The person who passed away had memory loss, which may have been from dementia.
- You live in the U.S.
We are currently recruiting African American or Black, Asian American and/or Pacific Islander, Latino/a, or multiracial individuals.
You may not be able to be in this study if:
- The person you cared for had memory loss that was not from dementia, such as brain cancer or head trauma.
- The person you are caring for is still alive.
What will happen if I am in this study?
1) You will fill out questions online to see if you can be in the study.
2) If you can be in the study, next you will answer survey questions online. This will take 10 minutes.
3) Then, some people will be chosen to do up to three 1-hour interviews about their experience as a caregiver, and their advice about how to improve hospice care and end-of-life care for their communities.
Completing the interviews will take 2-3 months.
